L’Épiphanie de Saint-Émilion is our biggest Bordeaux coup ever. Our expert, Jean-Marc Sauboua, has secured a luxurious, top-vintage wine from the same cellar and vineyards as a Premier Grand Cru Classé ‘A’ estate. Given the illustrious pedigree, we can’t name the winery, but here’s what we can tell you...
Out of over 800 châteaux in Bordeaux’s storied Saint-Émilion appellation, only four have been ranked Premier Grand Cru Classé ‘A.’ These estates are Saint-Émilion’s answer to the First Growths of the Médoc, and represent huge prestige and price. Cheval Blanc and Ausone are the originals, and a single bottle will set you back at least $800. Angélus and Pavie have become equally famous and go for well over $400 a bottle.
As well as making their Grand Vin, in top vintages with generous yields, these estates also release a small amount of extra wine, which is bottled anonymously and only sold to a favored few. So, when Jean-Marc heard that one of these estates was looking for a new partner, he jumped at the opportunity to secure the wine for you.
While this Réserve d’Elégance is not the estate’s Grand Vin, it is made from the same grapes, from the same vineyards, in the same cellar and with the same “no expense spared” attention to detail. If that weren’t enough, Decanter reports that, from the 2023 vintage, “The best wines have superior freshness and concentration, and will delight lovers of ‘classic’ Bordeaux wines.”
L’Épiphanie de Saint-Émilion is pure Grand Cru quality. This classic Merlot-Cabernet blend has a lovely richness of flavor—elegant layers of bright red summer fruit, with floral flourishes and hints of baking spice.
As you can imagine, very limited cases were available, and you’ll never see a price like this again. You’re advised to place your order now.
