This Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux is an exclusive, medium- to full-bodied red from the Laithwaite family's Château de Colombe, located in the village of Sainte-Colombe in the heart of Bordeaux’s Castillon region. Intense, with dark fruit and savory complexity, it's the evidence of the family's wine savvy.
The family has really on a roll in Bordeaux. Decanter magazine recently highlighted their Verniotte property as an “estate to watch," and previous vintages of this wine have won major gold medals.
A blend of Merlot, Cab Sauvignon and Cab Franc from Bordeaux's exciting Castillon region, it offers generously ripe, dark plum aromas, that mingle with hints of licorice and spicy oak. These characteristics carry through to the palate, where they become more concentrated and finessed.
If possible, decant an hour before serving to really let these aromas and flavors open up, then serve with fork-tender pot roast or our favorite match: a flame-grilled steak topped with sautéed shallots.
Hurry for your share—this is small-production Bordeaux at its best and won’t be around for long.
