Winemaker Hervé Saberdeil is the mastermind behind many of our best-selling wines––he knows how to craft wines our customers simply can’t get enough of. We’re thrilled to introduce Cabalié Origine, the ultimate edition of our best-loved red wine, Cabalié. Origine is crafted with concentrated grapes that deliver layers of intense flavors and mouthfilling dark fruits.
The original Cabalié started as a crazy idea. Hervé wanted to make a red wine in the dark, rich style that ancient Romans once drank. The kind of powerful, yet effortlessly smooth red that vineyard workers and locals still sip in local cafés.
So, Hervé turned to southern France’s rugged Agly Valley, where he sourced parcels from special old-vine plantings exceeding 100 years of age. That inaugural vintage earned thousands of fans among our customers, and a serious stack of medals, with scores and praise from competitions and critics worldwide.
But Hervé encountered a problem: Those gnarled heirloom vines produce precious few grapes––and he wasn’t able to get his hands on enough to repeat such wild success. Until now. When the vineyard’s owner retired, Hervé finally bought the entire site.
Origine is made entirely from grapes from those prized vines––and you can taste the difference in the glass. A classic, oak-aged blend of Syrah, Carignan and Grenache, it offers the richness, power and lusciously velvety texture that only ancient vines can provide.
