Amarone della Valpolicella is “one of the most unique and noble red wines in the world,” writes The Wine Advocate. As adoring fans already know, Amarone is also Italy’s richest red, and Bartolomeo Lorenzi Amarone comes from the estate that put the wine style on the map.

Cantina Valpolicella Negrar lies in the heart of northern Italy’s Veneto region. Back in 1933, they were the first winery to bottle and label a wine called ‘Amarone.’ And today, they have an excellent reputation for producing world-class wines. In fact, they were awarded the title of Best Italian Cooperative Winery three times (in 2016, 2017 and 2019) by Weinwirtschaft, the leading wine trade magazine in Germany.

Head winemaker Daniele Accordini’s team hand-harvested Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes (a classic Amarone blend) from pristine vineyards in the Marano Valley. Then, they dried the grapes for 90 days under perfect conditions, concentrating the luscious fruit flavors (a process that the Italians call it appassimento). The wine rested for 24 months in barrel and matured for six months in bottle before release.

Daniele chose to name the wine after Bartolomeo Lorenzi, an 18th-century abbott and poet whose “Della Coltivazione de' Monti” described the work of local farmers over the four seasons and helped popularize Valpolicella’s wines.

While you can uncork this luxe Amarone upon arrival, it will also cellar well for the next decade. Whenever you plan to enjoy it, you’ll experience intense cherry, plum, dried flower and sweet spice characters. Balanced and full bodied, it makes an indulgent aperitif or an equally impressive partner to filet mignon, meaty pastas and more.

An incredible offering from the original Amarone producer. Hurry for your share of this luxurious exclusive.
