Affogato is a medium-bodied red wine with dark fruit and fresh-brewed coffee aromas. On the palate, layers of rich dark berries, creamy chocolate and subtle vanilla lead to the smooth, velvety finish.Wine Food Pairings

Puglia, the sunny heel of Italy’s boot, is home to “sensational bargains with real soul,” says top critic Robert Parker. And here’s one you’ve got to try. Affogato is a silky blend of the region’s three stars: inky-dark Nero di Troia, aromatic Negroamaro and berry-packed Primitivo.
It’s crafted by Leonardo Palumbo, head winemaker for the Liantonio family (which is renowned for their expertise with local varieties). At 1,300 to 1,900 feet above sea level, their Torrevento estate vineyards sit atop some of the highest and sunniest hills in Puglia, an ideal spot for growing grapes with ripe, rich flavors.
The wine takes its name from the Italian dessert affogato, which is vanilla ice cream topped with a shot of espresso. That’s because, in addition to its layers of dark fruit, there are also hints of freshly brewed coffee and vanilla (thanks to French oak aging), plus a velvety finish. The perfect red for your next Italian feast, Affogato will be delicious alongside traditional antipasti or meaty pasta—and is smooth enough to enjoy on its own (before or after dinner.)
At under $20 a bottle, this red is truly one of Puglia’s ‘sensational bargains.’ Secure your share today.
