“Engines drive things, they build momentum,” says Nova Cadamatre. “And for us, The Engine represents an evolution of our business.”
One of only 425 industry professionals worldwide to become a Master of Wine—and the first female winemaker in the U.S. to earn the distinction—Nova established Trestle Thirty One winery in New York’s Finger Lakes region after forging an already impressive career.
A Cornell University grad, she’s worked with some of the world’s best vineyards, producing top bottles at acclaimed Napa Valley estates like Robert Mondavi Winery and Beringer. She’s now what she calls “a bi-coastal winemaker,” flying back and forth from New York to Napa to manage Fiadh Ruadh, her microbrand devoted to Cab Sauvignon, and to consult with other producers on all aspects of winemaking and viticulture.
Trestle Thirty One was born from her and husband Brian’s dream to put down roots with their own vineyard and to create distinct, purposeful wines from an American region they love.
The Engine is crafted with Riesling grapes from three vineyards ideally situated around Seneca Lake.
The 2023 vintage was rated 91 points by Stuart Pigott, Senior Editor at JamesSuckling.com: “Flinty and smoky, with bright pear, lemon and white peach aromas, this juicy, medium-bodied Riesling is barely off-dry, but will strike many wine drinkers as dry enough. Attractive silky texture on the palate, then a crisp finish.”
