Hailing from southern France’s sunny Languedoc region, Charles Cros represents the revitalization of a historic winemaking cooperative. What’s the story?

Over 40 years ago, the Fabrézan winemaking co-op practiced carbonic maceration. In this winemaking technique, the winemaker ferments whole bunches of delicately hand-harvested grapes, then decants the juice off the skins at the precise moment when the best color and aroma have been extracted. Given the cost and precision required, the co-op eventually ceased using carbonic maceration for its wines.

But today, new head winemaker Quentin Fischer has brought back the technique. So now, the Fabrézan co-op is the only producer in the Languedoc using 100% carbonic maceration. That makes this exciting red wine truly unique.

Named after Fabrézan native Charles Cros (a poet and inventor), the wine marries hand-harvested Carignan, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Look forward to expressive, ripe plum, black currant and garrigue (wild herb) aromas. The palate is beautifully smooth, with fresh fruit flavors and silky tannins.
